Extinction

Had to choose a theme for my advanced painting class. I chose fantasy creatures placed in dangerous environments due to human destruction haha. Never painted anything like this before. I realize the idea for this painting is not completely original. I was inspired by a few other painters but I created this painting myself. It was not copied from anything. Please critique. I want to get better! I realize the water splashing over the hand looks like I am trying to hide the fact that I cannot draw hands, but once I did it, I did not feel like waiting for it to dry and redoing it.
